The Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) marked the arrival of the first two Airbus C295MW transport aircraft at Rimba Air Base's Air Movement Centre on 24 January, 2024.

The acquisition, part of a four-aircraft deal with Airbus Defence and Space SAU, Spain, was formalized through a contract signed on 2 December 2022, as announced by the Brunei Ministry of Defence (MINDEF).

The newly acquired C295MWs would replace the RBAirF's single operational Airbus CN235-110M, which has been in service since 1997.

The C295MWs are expected to enhance the RBAirF's multirole, strategic, and tactical transport capabilities, supporting operations both regionally and internationally. According to MINDEF, these aircraft will be utilized in various roles, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations, medical evacuations (MEDEVAC), non-combatant evacuation operations (NEO), and search and rescue (SAR) operations.
