The United States State Department has given the green light to a Foreign Military Sale to the Government of the Netherlands, approving the transfer of Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles with Extended Range (JASSM-ER) and associated equipment at an estimated cost of $908 million.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has formally notified Congress of the proposed sale, which includes 120 AGM-158B/B-2 Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles with Extended Range (JASSM-ER) All-Up-Rounds, 15 AGM-158 Inert JASSMs with Test Instrumentation Kits, and various other components.
The objective of this sale is to enhance the Netherlands' capability to address current and future threats by augmenting its airborne, long-range, precision-strike combat capabilities. The advanced missile systems are intended for use in defense of NATO Allies and to act as a deterrent against potential aggression, as per the official DSCA release.
The proposed sale encompasses a range of equipment and services, including test vehicles, training missiles, encryption devices, logistics support, spare parts, and personnel training.
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, based in Orlando, FL, is slated to be the principal contractor.
