Five soldiers from the Netherlands Army were injured last night during a training exercise near Altmark, Germany, when a Boxer armored vehicle collided with a Fennek reconnaissance vehicle.
This incident occurred as part of the Grand Quadriga exercise, a component of NATO's Steadfast Defender initiative, involving the 13 Light Brigade.
According to a press release from the Netherlands Ministry of Defense dated April 16, the collision resulted in injuries to five soldiers. Three of the injured were transported to German hospitals for treatment. Fortunately, the Ministry of Defense reports that those three soldiers are expected to be released today after receiving medical care.
The remaining two soldiers sustained minor injuries and were able to leave the scene with bruises and other minor wounds. All affected soldiers have personally notified their families of the incident.
The Royal Military Police has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Additionally, the Defense Safety Inspectorate has begun a preliminary inquiry to determine the cause of the accident.
