Raytheon, a division of RTX, has granted a contract to Spanish engineering and technology firm Sener to develop and manufacture the electro-mechanical control section of the Patriot GEM-T missile.
This contract is part of a larger initiative to support the recent procurement of up to 1,000 GEM-T missiles by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) for a coalition of nations including Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Spain.
Sener's role will involve collaborating with Raytheon's engineers to co-develop the critical GEM-T missile control section, which will subsequently be produced at Sener's site in Tres Cantos, Madrid.
The Patriot GEM-T missile is a variant of the Patriot Advanced Capability 2 (PAC-2) missile interceptor, designed to counter tactical ballistic missiles. It is a key component of the Patriot air and missile defense system, used by several countries including Ukraine.
