CAE announced today that its joint venture, SkyAlyne, has been awarded a C$11.2 billion contract spanning 25 years for Canada’s Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program.
The FAcT Program, aimed at preparing Canadian military Pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators for future challenges, will see the consolidation of three aircrew training operations under SkyAlyne and joint management with Canada. SkyAlyne, a collaboration between CAE and KF Aerospace of Kelowna, BC, was selected as the preferred bidder for FAcT in July 2023 following a rigorous selection process.
Under the FAcT Program, SkyAlyne, in close collaboration with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), will undertake the design, development, and delivery of a comprehensive training and support system. This system will encompass live flying, simulation, ground school training, and a suite of in-service support functions, ushering in a new era of aircrew training in Canada.
The FAcT Program will be centrally managed from Ottawa and will build upon the existing training services provided by CAE and KF Aerospace. Operations are set to continue at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Southport (Portage la Prairie), and 17 Wing Winnipeg, with the establishment of a complete training enterprise at all three locations.
