PT PAL Indonesia and Naval Group have commenced their collaboration on the construction of Indonesia's first Scorpene Evolve submarine.
PT PAL showcased production facilities and engineering capabilities to a delegation from Naval Group, including Marie Laure Bourgeois, Executive Vice President (EVP) Sales & Marketing. The collaborative effort aims to implement the Scorpene program, integrating full lithium-ion battery technology.
SEVP TM Satriyo Bintoro outlined the adaptation plan agreed upon, focusing on enhancing the 209-submarine type to Scorpene Evolve standards.
Key discussions included a comprehensive review of PT PAL's shipyard to strengthen existing cooperation.
Marie Laure Bourgeois and Laurent Espinasse, EVP Director of the Submarine Department at Naval Group, expressed confidence in PT PAL's preparedness for submarine construction, despite the pending contract finalization.
In April 2024, Naval Group and PT PAL signed a contract with Indonesia for two Scorpène evolved submarines equipped with a full lithium-ion battery (LiB) energy system. This configuration ensures enhanced security, safety, increased useful energy range, and reduced charging time. The submarines will also incorporate the latest SUBTICS combat system, designed to meet modern challenges in both deep and shallow waters.
