The Ukrainian Defense Ministry announced today that the second Ada-Type Corvette, "Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi", was launched at the RMK Marine shipyard in Istanbul.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov attended the ceremony, stating that the corvette, equipped with the latest weapons, will significantly enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities.
The "Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi" is the second of two corvettes being built for the Ukrainian Navy in Turkey, following the launch of the "Hetman Ivan Mazepa" in May. Both vessels feature advanced weaponry, including a Super Rapid 76-millimeter naval gun, Korkut 35mm anti-aircraft gun, and STAMP 12.7mm remote-controlled weapon stations.
The corvettes are also equipped with
Thales Sting EO MK2 naval fire control, Aselsan satellite communications, ARES-2N electronic warfare, and Mk 36 SRBOC decoy launching systems. Additionally, they feature ALPER tactical navigation radar and 3D SMART-S MK2 radar for air target detection.
The launch ceremony was attended by First Lady Olena Zelenska, Navy Commander Oleksii Neizhpapa, and CEO of Baykar Haluk Bayraktar, among others. The construction of the vessel is proceeding according to schedule, with the entire ship being built in Turkey due to the Russian invasion in February 2022.
