Saab has completed the delivery of five advanced Arthur radar systems, designated "TAIPAN" by the British Army, enhancing the army’s weapon-locating capabilities.

The systems have been accepted into service and assigned to the 5th Regiment Royal Artillery.

TAIPAN replaces the previous generation Arthur radar, known as MAMBA. The new system offers improved operational mobility, faster deployment, and enhanced precision in counter-battery operations. Equipped with Saab’s Digital Antenna technology, TAIPAN can locate a greater number of targets at longer ranges while minimizing its electronic warfare signature, ensuring its survivability in hostile environments.

On June 28th, 2024, the Royal Artillery formally accepted the TAIPAN systems at a ceremony held at Larkhill Camp, marking them as part of the 5th Regiment’s Colours.
