Russia Presents the Latest Pantsir-S1M Air Defense System at Aero India 2025

 Rosoboronexport presented the Pantsir-S1M air defense missile gun, the latet version of the Pantsir at Aero India 2025 hose improved features include longer distance and higher altitude.

The Pantsir-S1M can engage targets at a range of 1,200 to 40,000 meters and at altitudes ranging from 15 to 18,000 meters. This is a significant improvement over the Pantsir-S1, which could only engage targets at a range of 1,200 to 20,000 meters and at altitudes of 15 to 15,000 meters. This enhanced range allows the Pantsir-SM to counter a broader spectrum of aerial threats such as missiles, drones and aircraft.

The Pantsir-S1M retains its dual 30mm automatic anti-aircraft guns, having an engagement range of 200 to 4,000 meters and can target threats at altitudes between 0 and 3,000 meters. This armament is can counter low-altitude threats that penetrate the missile defense envelope.

The Pantsir-S1M is equipped with a new SOTS S-band radar, boasting a detection range of up to 75 kilometers, significantly improving its ability to detect and track targets compared to the 40-kilometer  range of the Pantsir-S1. The improved radar capabilities enable the system to detect stealthier and low-observable targets.

The Pantsir-S1M can simultaneously engage up to four targets, and it is designed to counter targets with speeds up to 1,000 meters per second. This allows the system to handle multiple incoming threats. In addition, the system is mounted on a KAMAZ-53958 Typhoon 8x8 chassis, providing superior mobility and terrain adaptability compared to the previous KAMAZ-6560 chassis used in the Pantsir-S1. This mobility is crucial for rapid deployment and repositioning, enhancing the system's operational flexibility.
