The Land 121 medium heavy truck program has delivered its final batch of Rheinmetall MAN military vehicles to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) after more than a decade of production.
The program has supplied over 3,500 medium and heavy trucks, 2,200 trailers, 1,000 modules, and 2,000 flat-racks. These include recovery vehicles and integrated load-handling systems for fuel, water, and general stores distribution.
Director-General Platforms Army Brigadier Colin Bassett said the improved armour offers protection against blast and small arms weapons.
The fleet has also been used for disaster relief operations, including Operation Bushfire Assist and the Townsville floods in 2019.
Director General Land Vehicle Systems Brigadier John-Paul Ouvrier confirmed that the program was delivered on time and within budget. "More than $650 million has been invested in Australian defence industry whilst delivering the medium heavy capability, with ongoing annual sustainment valued at approximately $60 million," he said.
