The Spanish Armed Forces have signed a framework agreement with Quantum Systems to acquire Vector and Twister drones, becoming the first full-spectrum customer of the company’s Family of Systems for enhanced reconnaissance.
The agreement covers the procurement of 91 Vector systems, totaling 182 drones, designed to provide mid-range Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) support. Initial deployments are planned for the Spanish Army (Ejército de Tierra) and the Spanish Marine Infantry (Infantería de Marina), with deliveries set to begin later in 2025.
Quantum Systems confirmed that Vector will be used for a range of ISR missions requiring endurance and operational flexibility.
In addition to the Vector systems, the Spanish Air Force has procured multiple Twister systems to provide short-range reconnaissance for its specialized forces. The deal includes options for further Twister units, supporting high-mobility missions in dynamic operational environments.
Both Vector and Twister are part of Quantum Systems’ modular Family of Systems, allowing Spanish defense forces to streamline ISR operations across short- and mid-range distances with compatible platforms.
Further details about the framework agreement and deployment plans are expected to be shared during the International Defence & Security Exhibition (FEINDEF), which will take place from 12 to 14 May in Madrid.
Spanish defense officials noted that these acquisitions aim to strengthen multi-domain ISR capabilities across air and ground forces in the coming years.
