Germany's Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has awarded a contract to defense electronics firm HENSOLDT to enhance the operational performance of the ASUL counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS).
The ASUL system, originally developed by HENSOLDT’s subsidiary ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH, has been in service with the German Armed Forces since 2022. The modular system detects, classifies, and neutralizes small unmanned aircraft systems in real time using a mix of active and passive radar, electro-optical sensors, and countermeasures.
The upgrade, based on lessons learned from field use and new technology developments, aims to address the evolving needs of Bundeswehr personnel.
The Elysion Mission Core, powered by AI-supported algorithms, integrates sensor data in near real time and provides operators with actionable response options.
