The Israeli Ministry of Defense has signed a 200 million NIS (approximately $55 million) agreement with Elbit Systems to supply new defense systems for the Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) Apache and Blackhawk helicopters.
Announced on May 20, the deal was made through the Directorate of Defense Research and Development (MAFAT), in coordination with the Israeli Air Force. The five-year program will equip the combat helicopters with advanced systems to detect, disrupt, and deflect incoming threats, particularly heat-seeking missiles.
The upgrade includes Directed Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM) and other self-protection technologies designed to enhance survivability in high-threat environments.
