China's State Council and the Central Military Commission have jointly published a set of regulations on protecting military industrial facilities from unauthorized access.
The regulations which will take effect on September 15, aim to safeguard the security of key military industrial facilities, ensure their operational effectiveness, and maintain the normal conduct of military research, production, and related activities, the Chinese military’s official website, Chinamil.com.cn reported.
The regulations define the key military industrial facilities to be protected by law and specify the duties of relevant departments;
They stipulate that key military industrial facilities shall be protected through the establishment of designated protected zones;
The regulations require that controlled access and other security measures be implemented within the protected zones. the regulations also define protection requirements for the outer security control areas surrounding these zones.
In recent times, China has apprehended several individuals-both locals and foreign, for taking photos and video of military establishments.
In addition, many social media users have photographed military equipment under testing and published them on their social media accounts much to the embarassment of Chinese officials.
