AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE has officially delivered the first three L-39 Skyfox training aircraft to the Hungarian Air Force.
The handover ceremony took place on May 30 at Kecskemét Air Base, attended by high-ranking officials from the Hungarian Defence Forces, the Ministry of Defence, and Aero Vodochody.
Zsolt Kutnyánszky, State Secretary for Armed Forces Development and Defense Policy, noted the establishment of a new simulation center in Hungary as part of the training infrastructure. The L-39 Skyfox system will be integrated into the NATO Flight Training Europe (NFTE) program, enhancing Hungary’s role within the alliance.
The aircraft are part of a broader training solution that includes ground support equipment, simulators, and operational support services. So far, three Hungarian instructor pilots and sixteen technicians have completed training at Aero’s facilities, with nearly 100 training flights performed, including night and formation flying.
Aero’s engineering team will remain stationed at Kecskemét to support the operational integration of the aircraft. The current delivery follows a contract signed on April 17, 2022, which includes a total of 12 L-39 Skyfox aircraft—eight for training and four configured for reconnaissance missions.
