Australia Set to Acquire $2B in U.S. Support for F/A-18F, EA-18G Fleet

The U.S. State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Australia for sustainment support and related equipment for its F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft fleet, with an estimated value of $2.0 billion.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the proposed sale on June 17. The package includes advanced electronic systems, software updates, technical support, and other related logistics services intended to enhance the operational longevity and combat readiness of Australia’s air combat forces.

According to the DSCA, the Australian government has requested to purchase sixty (60) Global Lightning – Joint Tactical Terminal – Transceivers (JTT-X), forty (40) Advanced Electronic Warfare systems, and twenty-four (24) Next Generation Electronic Attack Units (NGEAU).

The deal also covers non-major defense equipment such as AN/PYQ-10C Simple Key Loaders, Inline Network Encryptors, AN/ALE-47 electronic warfare countermeasure systems, Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) software, spares, repair parts, armament equipment, system upgrades, and various software development and integration services.

Training, logistics, and engineering support services are included, alongside test equipment, transportation, and contractor support from The Boeing Company.
