Russia’s state defense conglomerate Rostec has unveiled a major upgrade to its Kornet anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) system, enabling it to carry and launch four missiles instead of one.
Developed by the High-Precision Systems holding of Rostec, the new cassette-based module allows any Kornet launcher to be equipped with four 9M134 Bulat guided missiles, significantly expanding the system’s firepower and target range.
“High-Precision Complexes specialists have made it possible to install a cassette with four Bulats instead of one standard missile on any Kornet launcher,” Rostec said in a statement. “The new munition increases the variability of the system's use – its typical targets now include objects for which the power of a standard Kornet missile is excessive.”
The Bulat missile is intended to neutralize unarmored, lightly armored, and medium-armored vehicles, including those with reactive armor. The jam-resistant, laser beam-guided missile has a firing range of several kilometers and can be launched either sequentially or in a salvo of two.
Bulat has already entered trial military operation following successful field tests, which confirmed the missile’s stated performance parameters.
Rostec said the integration of the Bulat cassette offers a new operational edge by adapting the Kornet for more diverse battlefield scenarios.
