Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and U.S.-based GE Aerospace have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to supply and integrate F404 turbofan engines for the HÜRJET Jet Trainer.

Signed during the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025), the agreement aims to boost cooperation on engine integration, prototype flight testing, and long-term maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) processes.

TAI stated that the F404 engine will play a key role in powering the HÜRJET, a single-engine, twin-seat jet trainer designed for modern pilot training and light combat. The aircraft has completed over 210 flights to date.

GE Aerospace will support procurement and integration of the F404 engine and contribute additional resources for upcoming prototype testing. Both companies also plan to deepen technical cooperation throughout the engine’s operational lifecycle.
