The U.S has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Canada of Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) and related equipment for an estimated cost of $160 million.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress on Friday.
The Government of Canada has requested to buy a fleet of up to 60 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs); and up to nine JLTV cargo trailers.
The following non-MDE items will also be included: communication equipment; mobility equipment; lethality and survivability enhancements; spare and repair parts; special tools and test equipment (STTE); technical manuals and publications; maintenance trainers; new equipment training; total package fielding support; depot level maintenance/repair and return support;elated elements of logistics and program support.
The proposed sale would contribute to increased burden-sharing with allies and partners in support of peace operations and peacekeeping around the world. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
The principal contractors will be AM General, LLC, located in Auburn Hills, MI and Mishawaka, IN.
