Polish prosecutors are investigating a Warsaw-based company over alleged kickbacks tied to multi-billion dollar arms deals with South Korea.

This was reported by SavunmaSanayiST.com citing tvn24.pl.

The Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office said the probe, launched in June, follows reports that the company received nearly $25 million from a South Korean defense contractor. The investigation comes in the wake of large-scale procurement agreements signed between Warsaw and Seoul since 2022.

The first contracts were signed by then-Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak, with further deals sealed last week by current Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. These agreements include additional deliveries and local production of K2 tanks, bringing the total value of orders to about $7 billion.

Prosecutor’s spokesman Mateusz Martyniuk said the case involves “two invoices issued by a Polish company to a South Korean defense industry company in exchange for multi-million dollar consulting services,” which are suspected of misrepresenting facts to determine tax liabilities. No charges have been filed and no suspects named.

The company at the center of the case was founded in 2019 by two South Korean nationals and operates in the business consulting sector. Records show low revenue until late 2022, when income surged by roughly $25 million—coinciding with the signing of the first South Korean arms contracts.
