Lockheed Martin has unveiled an expanded industrial collaboration package for the Philippines as part of its F-16 Block 70 proposal for the country’s Multi Role Fighter (MRF) program, announcing a new partnership with Southern Methodist University (SMU) to advance digital innovation, research, and workforce development.

The collaboration will link SMU’s Center for Digital and Human-Augmented Manufacturing and Deason Innovation Gym with Philippine universities and industry to accelerate capabilities in digital modeling, simulation, robotics, automation, virtual and augmented reality, and artificial intelligence.

The initiative will establish a research lab and training facility in the Philippines, giving local professionals access to advanced innovation tools and equipment. It will also fund business incubation projects, government-led initiatives, and academic programs aimed at fostering intellectual property creation.

According to SMU Associate Dean for Advanced Studies and Industry Partnerships Dr. Ben Zoghi, the program will provide long-term benefits for both academia and industry in the Philippines.

The industrial collaboration is part of Lockheed Martin’s offer for the F-16 Block 70, the latest and most capable variant of the fighter aircraft. The company says the package is designed to support the Philippines’ SRDP goals, strengthen security capabilities, and contribute to broader economic development.
