Ukraine has deployed Mirage-2000 aircraft equipped with bombs whose guidance kits have been developed in Ukraine.

Videos have appeared in pro-Ukrainian social media depicting the first use of French Mirage-2000 fighters by the Ukrainian air force to bomb Russian targets. They show how the combat vehicle flies at low altitude, preparing to drop aerial bombs.

Military experts who have studied the video footage note that the French fighter does not drop aerial bombs from a high altitude, but, on the contrary, seems to "creep" near the ground and only at the very last moment makes a "hill" with a climb to drop the UAB.

Recall that the transfer of several Mirage-2000 fighters by Paris to Kyiv became known in 2025. However, until recently, the Ukraine Air Force preferred not to use these aircraft against Russian targets fearing Russian air defense.

In April this year, Ukraine announced the development of guidance kits by local companies that will convert dumb bombs into guided ones. It is quite possible that the Mirage-2000 is dropping guided bombs from a stand-off distance.

In recent months, Ukraine’s much talked-about F-16s have been seen fewer times than before which some analysts describe could be due to reasons such as a shortage of pilots and insufficient parts and servicing options for the ageing F-16s drawn from European countries such as Denmark.

Russia claims to have destroyed 671 enemy aircraft since 2022.

Earlier reports say Ukraine has successfully used its Mirage-2000 to intercept Russian KH-101 missiles using the Mirage-2000's Mica missiles.
