Ukrainian agents were arrested from near the Ukrainka airbase in the Amur region and the Shagol airbase in the Chelyabinsk region which house Su-57 jets and strategic bombers such as the Tu-160.
Timely intelligence led to the arrest of several persons involved in the assembly of FPV drones from locations lose the bases, the FSB said in a statement Monday.
Ukrainian intelligence agencies organized the delivery of FPV drones to the Bryansk region, using drones and aerostats. The drones were equipped with neural network control modules resistant to electronic warfare. These modules were manufactured in the UK, the US, Canada, and Sweden, Topcor.ru reported.
Just a few days ago, the FSB thwarted an attempt to destroy the Rostov-Tsentralny military airfield, which Ukrainian operatives were also planning to attack using AI-powered FPV drones.
Buoyed by the success of an earlier operation to destroy several Russian strategic bombers in 2025, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy announced large-scale sabotage operations on Russian territory. Aimed at the destruction of Russian military airfields.
A Video released by the FSB shows the arrest of suspects and the seizure of UAV components and assembled FPV drones. Vehicles used to bring the components and also to carry the assembled FPV drones to their launch points were also seized.
Su-57 fighter jet's role in the Ukraine war
Russian forces struck targets in ports in the Odesa region yesterday where Su-57 fighter jets played a key role in the attack by breaching enemy air defenses and guiding bombers to finish the job, reports said.
Russian officials are praising the utility of the Su-57 stealth fighter as it remains undetected by Ukrainian air defenses until it is very close to its target. The Su-57 is used to destroy air defenses, missile and drone launching sites besides command and control centers. It also functions as an airborne command center to guide bombers to their targets.
