Elta Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has won a contract worth $53 million from foreign customer to supply several Port-Guard systems. Elta won the contract after successful operational tests which demonstrated the system's efficiency. The ELI-3320 Port-Guard protection system operates a variety of sensors to detect, locate, track and classify surface and subsurface targets, such as vessels, boats, swimmers, divers, people and moving vehicles approaching the port. Nissim Hadas, IAI Corporate VP and president of ELTA Systems said, "ELTA's tailored integrated naval port protection system provides all-weather, comprehensive perimeter protection against a variety of maritime and ground threats which could endanger ports and threaten their safety. This new contract positions IAI-ELTA Systems as a leading worldwide supplier of Maritime Port protection systems". The system's Command and Control Center displays a full situation awareness picture of the protected site. On identifying a potential threat, security units are alerted to take necessary preventive measures.
