The UK Ministry of Defense is preparing to outsource the procurement of military equipments to private contractors worth $21 billion a year. The announcement was made by Defense Secretary Philip Hammond to the parliament on Tuesday. The Ministry of Defense has already begun involving major defense contractors, although a final decision is yet to be made. According to media reports, the plan is part of a far-reaching MoD overhaul, which has included cutting equipment programmes and slashing the size of the services, especially the army.
