Indian Army Test Fires Nuclear Capable Prithvi-II Ballistic Missile In User Trial

India has test fired the indigenously developed nuclear capable Prithvi-II ballistic missile from the integrated test range off Odisha with strike range of 350 km today. The missile which was test fired has already been inducted into the armed forces and was a part of the user trail. The medium-range missile has a capacity to reach the peak altitude of 43.5 km and can carry 500-kg warhead. “The whole exercise was aimed at studying the control and guidance system of the missile besides providing training to the Army," said an official. Prithvi uses an advanced inertial guidance system with maneuvering capabilities and comes within meters of its target.
