Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions (CWCDS) has announced that it will demonstrate its new Digital Beachhead rugged COTS system solution for quickly and cost-effectively adding a rugged VICTORY-compliant networking backbone to military ground vehicles at the 2012 AUSA. Digital Beachhead is the industry’s first low-cost rugged COTS solution for modernizing ground vehicles to comply with the U.S. Army’s new VICTORY (Vehicular Integration for C4ISR/EW Interoperability) initiative for interoperable digital network services. Digital Beachhead is designed to deliver optimal performance in space/weight/power/cost (SWaP-C) constrained vehicles deployed in harsh military environments. “We are very excited to demonstrate Digital Beachhead at AUSA 2012,” said Lynn Bamford, senior vice president and general manager of Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions. “We believe that the Digital Beachhead’s ability to add a digital backbone with a full suite of VICTORY network services, and coupled with our own Vehicle Management Framework (VMF) software, will significantly ease, speed and cut the cost of bringing extremely powerful networked vetronics to ground combat vehicles in today’s cost constrained environment”. Digital Beachhead leverages adjacent market technologies, such as ARM processors from the automotive industry and low-power network switches designed for cell towers, to meet the Army’s challenge to deliver a radically affordable high performance Digital Backbone in a single, lightweight rugged package.
