The U.S Navy has received the fourteenth and final Cesar Chavez cargo ship T-AKE 14 from the General Dynamics NASSCO. The T-AKE 14 is an auxiliary ship that will provide the U.S. Navy with global combat logistics. The project took nearly ten years for its completion. Fred Harris, president of General Dynamics NASSCO, said, "This is an exciting day for the American shipbuilding industry and the U.S. Navy, as T-AKE 14 joins a distinguished tradition of NASSCO-built ships supporting the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. As demonstrated on our successful sea trials three weeks ago, the Cesar Chavez is ready for immediate service to our nation."
