The Chinese firm that won the $3.4 billion Turkish missile tender has not yet met all conditions of the RFP to build a missile defence system, according to Reuters.
The report, citing sources, said, that Turkey may consider alternative offers and that a Russian bid for the advanced weapons project has been revised, but its price remained far higher than other offers.
The China Precision Machinery Import and Export Corp’s FD-2000 beat Raytheon’s Patriot to win the contract in September 2013. NATO and the United States have repeatedly conveyed to Ankara that a Chinese missile defense system will not be interoperable with NATO systems, even as Turkey has claimed that the proposed system will be compatible with existing systems.
