The Turkish Defense (SSIK) had selected CPMIEC (Peoples Republic of China) as the preferred supplier of the Long Range Air and Missile Defense System Project on September 26, 2013.

The contract negotiations continue a press release from the Turkish Defense Under secretariat said. Turkey is in enormous pressure U.S and European allies to scuttle the Chinese deal.

If, in accordance with SSIK procedures, these negotiations cannot be successfully concluded with CPMIEC, negotiations will be opened with the second-ranking bidder, the EUROSAM Consortium. If talks with EUROSAM are not decisive, contract negotiations will be opened with the third-ranking bidder, the U.S. Government.

At present contract negotiations with CPMIEC Organization are continuing. In such an important project all contract details are important, and it is natural to continue the discussions until all details have been covered.

In this context, and until the Long Range Air and Missile Defense System Project Agreement is signed, the extension of the validity period for all offers is necessary, so the validity of the proposals has been extended until August 31, 2014.
