Computer Sciences Corp and a division of Northrop Grumman have won separate contracts worth a total of $65.2 billion to provide the U.S. Navy with service software support activity engineering and related services.

The Defense Department said Tuesday the contracts cover SSA engineering for test systems software management and development and programs, including Common Data Link Management System, Next Generation Command and Control Processor and Common Link Integration Processing software development support.

Northrop’s communications division within the information systems sector received a contract worth approximately $37 billion while CSC landed an estimated $28.2 billion contract to provide the services.

The companies can compete for task orders under the program, which can potentially run through Oct. 20, 2017, and reach a total value of $71.4 billion if contract options are exercised.

The contractors’ facilities in San Diego, California, will host 50 percent of the contract work while government facilities in the same region will host the other 50 percent.

Funding for work on the three-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific are obligated per task order, DoD said.

This includes funding for ship construction, aircraft procurement, operations and maintenance, foreign military sales, the Navy’s working capital fund, and research, development, test and evaluation.
