The HAL pavilion is showcasing the model of Hindustan Turbofan engine (HTFE-25) at Aero India 2015.

The medium-thrust class engine is currently being developed at the HAL facility in Bengaluru, and it’s the latest attempt of the company to develop larger engines for aircraft.

HAL spokerperson told Defenseworld.net that the engine is expected to be in service by 2018, and the testing will be done this year.

The engine is designed to meet the need of aircraft, especially business jets and combat trainers in 5- ton class.
