Arms Deals Worth US$ 1.02 billion Announced at IDEX 2015

Tawazun Dyamics, Oshkosh, Caracal International and Agusta Westland won big contracts from the UAE Armed Forces on day three of IDEX exhibition at Abu Dhabi

UAE Armed Forces entered a deal with Tawazun Dynamics to purchase “ultra precision” guided ammunition. The deal is valued at AED 1.53 billion.

UAE Armed Forces and Emirates Advanced Research and Technology Holding (EARTH) announced a new contract for the development of Oshkosh machinery (M-ATV) and technical support and maintenance through provision of spare parts and services. The contract is valued at AED 864 million.

UAE Armed Forces entered a deal with Caracal International, to purchase 80,000 modern assault rifles, type CAR816. The deal is worth AED 763 million.

UAE Armed Forces will purchase nine helicopters from Augusta Westland NV – an Anglo-Italian helicopter manufacturing company. Six will be for search and rescue purposes and three for VIP use. The deal is worth AED 732 million.

UAE Armed Forces contracted with Rheinmetall Air Defence to provide technical support through providing spare parts and maintenance services, and repair for the Skyguard Cannon System. The deal is valued at AED 34 million.

UAE Armed Forces entered a deal with Raytheon Systems from Britain, to purchase and assemble an aerial radar to detect planes. The contract is worth AED 11 million.

UAE Armed Forces entered a deal with Thales Communications & Security from France for technical maintenance, repair and support of devices, worth AED 21 million.
