GE Aviation Wins $2 Billion Contract To Support Taiwan, US Military Services

GE Aviation has won a $2 billion contract from the US Department of Defense (DoD) for supplying helicopter engines to Taiwan’s government and to support various US military services.

The location of the labor and funding will be decided with each order and the expected date of completion is Dec. 31, 2020.

The US DoD announced another $994.6 million task order contract awarded to nine companies for technical engineering services. The companies included in the contract were Adams Communication & Engineering Technology, Battelle Memorial Institute, Booz Allen Hamilton, CACI Technologies, DHPC Technologies, EOIR Technologies, Leidos, Praxis Engineering Technologies, and Sotera Defense Solutions. 

The location of the labor and funding will be decided with each order and the expected date of completion is May 7, 2018.

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems have also won an $8 million contract for "MK 258, MOD 1 armor piercing, fin stabilized, discarding, sabot, tracer (APFSDS-T) cartridges." The Navy contract will produce, test, inspect, and deliver ammunition for use in the MK46 gun weapon system.

The DoD officials said "only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements."

Labor will be conducted in Marion, Ill. and the expected date of completion is March 2017.

In addition, M1 Support Services has won a $9.6 million contract which tasks the company with providing "trainer maintenance services for approximately 6,300 training assets in support of the 82nd Training Wing technical training mission at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas."

The 82 TRW mission include more than 60,000 graduates a year and nearly 1,000 technical training courses, making it the largest training mission in the Air Force.

The contract was awarded as part of a competitive acquisition and three offers were submitted. Labor is expected to be finished by Sept. 30, 2016.
