Lockheed Martin has received a US$ 914 million contract from the US Air Force to upgrade F-16 fighter jets for the government of Singapore, the US Department of Defense (DoD) announced yesterday.

Work will be performed at Fort Worth, Texas, and is expected to be complete by June 30, 2023," the DoD said.

The planned upgrades previously approved by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency include laser-designated munitions, air-to-air weapons, datalink capability and helmet mounted displays and an Active Electronically Scanned Array radar system.

The Singapore Air Force operates a fleet of around 60 Lockheed Martin F-16 combat aircraft and has flown them since 1988.
