Progeny Wins $54M US Navy Contract For Submarine Payload Control System Development

Progeny Systems Corp has been awarded a $54 million US Navy contract to develop the Payload Control System portion of the AN/BYG-1 Submarine Combat Control System.

The work will be performed on the system installed on new and existing Navy submarines and joint program office submarine platforms, the US Department of Defense announced Wednesday.

“Progeny Systems Corp., Manassas, Virginia, is being awarded a $54,733,850 cost-plus-incentive-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee, cost only, and firm-fixed-price contract for the design, development, testing and delivery of the Payload Control System portion of the AN/BYG-1 Submarine Combat Control System for all Navy new construction and in-service submarines and appropriate joint program office submarine platforms,” the statement said.

Work will be performed in Manassas, Virginia; and Middletown, Rhode Island, and is expected to be completed by February 2021.

Royal Australian Navy funding in the amount of $500,000 will be obligated at time of award and contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year, the statement added.

AN/BYG-1 is installed on the Australian navy’s Collins-class submarines and US Navy’s Los Angeles, Seawolf, Virginia and SSGN-class submarines.
