Pakistan’s Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) has signed an agreement with Ukraine to upgrade 200 Al Khalid II tanks with new engines at International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2016.
“Ukraine has agreed to provide engines to Pakistan for 200 al-Khalid II tanks” Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain was quoted as saying by The News today.
Al-Khalid Main Battle Tank (MBT) is a result of joint venture between the HIT and China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO). Currently, the tanks are powered by a Ukrainian 6TD-2 liquid-cooled diesel engine.
Pakistan has also signed an another deal with Turkey to supply 52 Super Mushshak aircraft. The jets have a service ceiling of 22,000 feet with a maximum speed of 268km per hour while the range of the aircrafts is being recorded at 814km.
