Denel has announced that it is on track to deliver RG32M armored patrol vehicles and Self Defence Remotely Operated Weapon (SDROW) lightweight remote weapon systems to Namibia.

"The contract is a substantial one and consists of eight RG32M vehicles and four SDROW weapon stations," Johan Steyn, CEO of Denel Vehicle Systems, said delivery to Namibia will be completed by the end of March 2017.

The RG32M is part of a family of mine-resistant 4x4 light armored vehicles vehicles used by peacekeeping, security and combat forces in Africa, Asia, the Balkans and the Middle East.

The vehicle can withstand grenades, firebombs, anti-personnel mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The vehicle can accommodate five crew members and has four side doors and roof-mounted hatches that allow easy entry and exit. The variant ordered by Namibia is equipped with enhanced protection against anti-tank mines.

The lightweight remote weapon systems are fitted with a light machine gun and can be operated remotely by one crew member including all weapon functions.
