Raytheon Awarded $33 Million For US Firepower Enhancement Program

Raytheon won more than $33 million for a second generation, infrared detection and identification battlefield target locator.

"Raytheon Co., McKinney Texas, is being awarded a maximum ceiling $33,100,000 firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the Firepower Enhancement Program (FEP), System Technical Support," the Department of Defense said in a press release Monday.

The FEP was developed in order to implement a second generation forward looking infrared that met detection and identification ranges under different battlefield conditions as well as a far target location capability, the Defense Department explained.

The contract is scheduled to last for five years and to be completed by August 20, 2022 with a potential second five year period of August 21, 2022 through August 20, 2027, the release added.
