The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has received a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) JF-17 Thunder multi-role fighter at its Chengfei aircraft maintenance factory last Tuesday. Pakistan will soon get a major overhaul facility built at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC)
The fighter has been in service with the PF since 2007. This will be a joint pilot program between China and Pakistan and will support the Chinese aviation industry’s wider transition to supporting current generation Chinese-made export fighters from previous generation models, Quwa reported quoting China Aviation News reports Sunday.
The JF-17 is the first of AVIC’s new generation fighters to require major overhaul, making this an important project for AVIC as it continues marketing the Thunder as well as its contemporaries, i.e. the FC-20 and L-15, Quwa reported.
Aviation Industry Changfei is one of the major aircraft repair shops in China. It is also an important training base for Air Force repair personnel, undertaking the repair tasks including the J-7, J-10 and other aircraft
Both Pakistani and Chinese sides said they will give their full support to the pilot trial of the first aircraft of the FIA industry and work together to create a golden business card for the aviation industry by making a major overhaul of the "Fierce Dragon" aircraft so as to make a friendship for China and Pakistan Due contribution, Sina reported.
The "Xiaolong" aircraft overhaul line project is a military trade project jointly implemented by four aviation and aerospace industry companies, including CATIC, Chengdu and Chengfei. Changfei is the main unit of the project.
