Iran Unveils Tech for Oxygen-less Firing of Torpedos Under water

The Iranian Navy has unveiled a range of new military equipment that includes oxygen-less torpedo fuel, training warship, electronic jammer and Nano material to cover surface of the vessels.

Otto fuel is a home-grown fuel that is combustible in the absence of oxygen, enabling the underwater propulsion of torpedoes. Torpedos thus-propelled can be extended in range toward higher operational capability, PressTV reported Wednesday.

The equipment was unveiled in the presence of Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadras, the Army’s second-in-command during Iran’s National navy day on Tuesday.

The ceremony also unveiled a conceptual and engineering design of a Persian Gulf training warship. It is 135-meter long and 16-meter wide vessel and will outfitted with the Iranian Navy’s latest technologies and equipment. The warship can carry 230 trainees.

Under the Mersad Project, the designing and development of a system needed for lightweight anti-submersible torpedoes testing was showcased. The Ra’d missile system’s testing mechanism, a sea-based missile system that can be used against all types of floating and flying targets.

The Damavand remote-controlled vessel fitted with anti-electronic warfare equipment was also unveiled. During combat, the vessel can be released from its naval unit and used to jam enemy radar, sonar, and fire control systems.

Nano material used for the covering the surface of vessels and naval equipment was also showcased. Application of such material helps reduce maintenance costs and contributes to the endurance of the objects it is used on.
