Lockheed Martin has been awarded $33.6 million contract action for support of the Korea Peace Krypton prime mission equipment, RC-800 aircraft and technical manuals.

This is a sole-source award and involves 100 percent foreign military sales to the Republic of Korea. Work is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2019, the US department of defense said in a statement Friday.

South Korea and the US have enhanced surveillance operations involving the use of U-2S ultra-high altitude reconnaissance aircraft, RC-800 and RF-16 reconnaissance planes, the E-737 airborne early warning and control aircraft and P-3C maritime patrol aircraft amid expectations that Pyongyang might test-fire a ballistic missile.
