Harris Corporation has received a $161 million contract to supply electronic jammers to protect U.S. Navy and Australian F/A-18 Hornet aircraft against electronic threats.

Under a contract announced on February 8, the US Department of defense said Harris will manufacture and deliver 86 Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures AN/ALQ-214 A(V)4/5 Onboard Jammer systems for the F/A-18 aircraft.  

The ALQ-214(V)4/5 is the key onboard electronic warfare jamming system for the IDECM program and protects the aircraft from sophisticated electronic threats, including modern integrated air defense systems.

In addition, this option provides for the procurement of eight WRA1 A(V)4 receiver/processors and seven WRA2 A(V)4 modulators. This option exercise is in support of the Navy and the government of Australia, the statement says.

Work will be performed in Clifton, New Jersey; San Jose, California; San Diego, California; Rancho Cordova, California); Mountain View, California (3 percent); and various locations throughout the continental U.S., and is expected to be completed in May 2021, the statement added.
