South African defense company Milkor signed a MoU with South Korea’s Hanwha Systems to develop an export-ready surveillance and reconnaissance solution for global markets at the 2025 Paris Air Show.
According to media reports, the agreement will see Hanwha’s advanced Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) integrated into Milkor’s flagship unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the Milkor 380.
This upgrade will equip the platform with high-resolution imaging, ground and maritime moving target indication, and all-weather reconnaissance capabilities, enhancing its intelligence-gathering and situational awareness functions.
“We look forward to continued collaboration with Hanwha Systems. By combining our expertise, we aim to unlock new opportunities in the Middle East and beyond,” said Coetzee, CEO of Milkor UAE.
Daniel du Plessis, Milkor’s Communications Director and Head of Business Development for Africa, added, “This partnership showcases the strength of South African innovation and expands our global footprint in the defense sector.”
