Russia’s advanced T-14 Armata Main Battle Tanks (MBT) have been painted with an anti-skid coating after being equipped with lavatories last month.

“The anti-skid coating also enhances its camouflage. It has been applied even on the Yars missile system,” Mikhail Begman, head of the Uralvagonzavod brigade of specialists in preparation for the Victory Parade in Moscow’s Red Square told TASS Thursday.

The coating has been painted in the entire front steep part of the tank. Without this type of coating, the tank operator may slip off while climbing on the tank or performing some maintenance work that requires some movement along its armour, causing injuries.

Last month, the tank was equipped with lavatories to provide comforts to the crew during long combat missions.

“Armored tanks have provision for the crew to remain inside for longer durations with food and water supplies. However, the tanks lacked washrooms for the soldiers to relieve themselves. With the addition of toilets, the Armata infantry vehicles tank enables the crew to perform lengthy combat missions,” Ilya Baranov, Director for Quality and Information Technologies at the Urals Design Bureau of Transport Machine-Building had said.

The T-14 Armata is a Russian 5th generation main battle tank based on the Armata Universal Combat Platform. The tank is operated by a three-member crew from an armored capsule at the front. The tank’s armament includes a 7.62mm remote-control machine gun and 125mm smoothbore cannon. An unmanned version of the Armata is planned and is currently in development.
