American Ordnance was awarded a $42 million modification contract for 155mm High Explosive Projectile M795 Insensitive Munitions Explosive (IMX).

“American Ordnance LLC, Middletown, Iowa, was awarded a $41.6 million modification contract for 155mm High Explosive Projectile M795 Insensitive Munitions Explosive,” Pentagon announced Thursday.

Work will be performed in Middletown, Iowa, with an estimated completion date of November 30, 2023.

The M795 155mm projectile is the US Army and Marine Corps standard 155mm high explosive projectile for howitzers. The high-fragmentation steel body is filled with 23.8 lb (10.8 kg) of high explosive, giving the approximately 103 lb (47 kg) bursting round fragmentation and blast effects.
