Israel Aerospace Delivers 100th F-35 Jet Wing, to Manufacture 800 by 2034

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) delivered its 100th F-35 stealth fighter’s wing to Lockheed Martin’s wing assembly line and has announced that it would manufacture over 800 units by the end of 2034.

The wings manufacturing center of IAI’s aviation division was established in November 2014. The company has previously produced wings for the F-16 fighter and T-38 jet trainer.

In December 2018, IAI inaugurated a new line for production of F-35 wing skins. The skins are being manufactured by means technology called Automatic Fiber Placement (AFP) that comprises layers of composite materials. The layers consist of 3-mm threads that become a cohesive unit, thus forming the special wing skin that provides them with the stealth capability.
