Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, a subsidiary of Russian Helicopters, handed over components of Mi-8AMT/Mi-171E helicopters to Kazakhstan for local assembly of the aircraft.

The delivery was carried out within the framework of a tripartite agreement between NK Kazakhstan Engineering JSC, Aircraft Repair Plant No. 405 JSC and Russian Helicopters for the organization of SKD assembly of Mi-8AMT / Mi-171E helicopters. 17 helicopter kits will be delivered until 2023, four of which were handed over by the holding in 2021, the company said in a release.

The assembly and adaptation of helicopters to customer requirements is carried out at the aircraft repair plant No. 405 in the city of Alma-Ata, which has competence in the repair and maintenance of the life cycle of Mi-8 helicopters in the Central Asian region.

"The plant is certified by Kazakhstani and international bodies for the repair, modernization and maintenance of Mi-8/171 helicopters. Today, the enterprise has significantly expanded its competence in final assembly, painting, and retrofitting of machines in accordance with the requirements of buyers. This format of cooperation testifies to the high level of trust and industrial cooperation, and we are ready to continue the development of this partnership with our Kazakh colleagues," said Nikolay Kolesov, General Director of the Russian Helicopters holding.

Six Mi-8AMT helicopters assembled by Aircraft Repair Plant No. 405, within the framework of localizing production in the Republic of Kazakhstan, have already been flown and transferred to the operator - the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Another Mi-171E helicopter kit is in the process of being assembled.

The main customers of the Mi-8AMT / Mi-171E helicopters in Kazakhstan are the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The helicopters are designed for the transportation of passengers and cargo, emergency rescue operations, forest protection, firefighting, air ambulance services, and law enforcement missions.

Kazakhstan is a long-time partner of the Russian Helicopters holding; several dozen Mi-8 helicopters are operated in the country. In addition, the republic became the first foreign operator of the Mi-171A2 helicopter.

Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant is one of the manufacturing enterprises of the Russian Helicopters holding. The modern production and technological potential of the plant makes it possible to quickly organize the manufacture of new types of aircraft, to combine the creation of prototypes with the serial production of equipment. Over 80 years of its existence, the plant has built more than 8500 aircraft. Today the plant specializes in the production of Mi-8AMT (Mi-171E), Mi-171, Mi-171A2 and Mi-8AMTSh (Mi-171Sh), Mi-8AMTSh-VA helicopters.
