Russia’s Federal Agency for Air Transport (Rosaviatsia) issued the Irkut Corporation a type certificate for the MC-21-300 passenger aircraft.

The document confirms the compliance of the MC-21-300 aircraft with the certification requirements for civil aviation equipment. At the same time, the Federal Air Transport Agency issued the Irkut a certificate of a developer of aviation equipment for the MC-21 aircraft.

“This is the first most important stage in the development of the latest domestic aviation technology. The Federal Air Transport Agency is ready to continue work on expanding the operating conditions of the aircraft and optimizing the structures, including remotorization for the domestic PD-14 engine,” said Alexander Neradko, Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency.

MC-21-300 is a new generation medium-range aircraft with a capacity of 163 to 211 passengers. The liner is focused on the most demanded segment of the passenger transportation market. The aircraft is created on the basis of the latest developments in the field of aircraft construction.

“The document confirms the readiness of the MC-21-310 aircraft for full-scale serial production,” said the head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov.

Since 2021, only domestic materials have been used in the production of the wing of the MC-21-300 aircraft. The first Russian composite wing was installed on the MC-21-300 aircraft in July 2021. In December, the first MC-21-300 aircraft with such a wing took to the skies for the first time.

“In 2022, we will focus our efforts on expanding the type certificate for the MC-21-300 aircraft. First of all, we will complete the certification of an aircraft with a wing made of Russian composite materials. We will also test the liner in high altitude conditions, strong crosswinds, low and high temperatures. This will allow Rossiya Airlines to operate the MS-21-300 in any geographic area,” said Andrei Boginsky, Irkut Corporation General Director.
