Ukrainian Armed Forces allege that Russian soldiers were selling spare parts of damaged military equipment for alcohol.

Due to the scale of thefts and the critical level of equipment of units, the commander of the troops of the Russian southern military district has ordered an urgent enquiry, Ukraine claimed in a statement.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said the Russians send the wrecked equipment home, but along the way it turns into a pile of scrap metal that cannot be repaired. Russian soldiers then strip tanks, armored personnel carriers (APCs) and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) of batteries, weapons control units and other spare parts in order to sell them or exchange them for alcohol.
